(BEIJING, August 10) -- Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon lifted a total of 221kg to defend Thailand's gold medal in the Women's 53 kilogram Weightlifting competition on August 10.<br><p>Nastassia Novikava of Belarus and Jaroenrattanatarakoon both lifted 95kg in the Snatch, followed by 94kg from ROK's Yoon Jinhee.</p> <p>In the Clean and Jerk round, Novikava lifted 118kg on her third attempt, but was later surpassed by Yoon's 119kg. However, Jaroenrattanatarakoon's 126kg not only brought her the gold medal, but also a new Olympic record for the Clean and Jerk.</p> <p>Novikava and Yoon had the same total weight of 213kg, but Yoon took the silver medal thanks to a lighter weight in the pre-Game weigh-in.</p><br>
